[00:00.00]So back in the mid seventies..uh.. [00:02.32]I'm..uh..stopped touring for a while. [00:05.53]And of course I was 20 years old, I think in 1975. [00:10.31]Pretty scary thought, isn't it? [00:12.28]Anyway, um, I moved to the Big Smoke, I moved to Sydney [00:15.98]Because I wanted to have a career and get experience playing in recording studios. [00:24.13]And I wanted to learn, I was so hungry for knowledge, as I always have been. [00:28.70]And um...so I..auditioned and I got work. [00:35.88]The only..the only downside to what I was doing was that I was refused to few jobs. [00:42.00]Because I couldn't read music and I still don't. [00:45.57]Uh, unfortunately, I'd love to be able to [00:47.87]but I'm too busy playing it to learn how to read it off paper. [00:52.49]So..So anyway, it hasn't hindered me that much. [00:58.63](Clapping...) [01:04.87]But I started, I've always been interested in songs. You know [01:09.85]I've never just, you know...thought about playing the guitar. [01:13.55]And....and you know, uh...trying to appeal to guitar players. [01:19.64]I've never ever thought that way. [01:22.04]I've always loved songs and singers and songwriters. [01:26.49]And I was always interested in song writing. [01:30.43]So...um...I always got book to play solos [01:35.32]because my solos for some reason seem to speak to people. [01:39.54]And that was a wonderful thing. [01:41.89]But I got a call one day from a producer of a television show. [01:48.17]And he said, well, we're going to go to air with this TV show, [01:54.16]but we're not happy with the music. [01:57.07]Do you think you could come up with something? [02:00.02]And I said, well, let me see a little bit of the program. [02:03.49]So I had look at the pilot of the show. [02:07.37]And I loved it. And I said "When do you need this?" [02:12.19]And he goes, "two o'clock". I said ok! [02:18.05]So I went out of the car, I got my acoustic guitar. [02:20.96]And I said, leave me alone for 10 minutes. [02:23.86]And I wrote this song. [02:26.57]Anyway, he came back in a bit of a hurry [02:28.92]and he was carrying on his shoulder a reel to reel tape recorder and a microphone. [02:36.07]And he said, are you ready? Let me hear it. So I played it for him. [02:39.96]And he said, oh! It's exactly what we're looking for. He said, let's go ! [02:43.79]And he turned the thing on..on the record and held the microphone up to my guitar in his office. [02:50.15]And that's what was on television for about 14 years. [02:55.39]So having said that, I thought tonight that I might play it acoustically [02:59.37]just for the mic to get that authentic sound for you. [03:02.00]Here it is, Countrywide. [03:10.31]As Chet would say "As the composer intended"
